The Cottage Garden

The cottage garden wraps around the south and east sides of the house. The main entrance to the house faces south and the kitchen windows face east.

The garden has flowers, modest amounts of vegetables and herbs, and a fenced in area for feeding birds. Throughout the year from the kitchen table we see red winged black birds, titmice, cardinals, juncos, robins, gold- and purple finches, several species of sparrows, indigo buntings, several species of woodpeckers, chickadees, blue jays, hummingbirds, grosbeaks, field orioles, and the occasional red tailed hawk.  Okay, once in a while wild turkeys think it’s a great place to get a snack.
