The Kitchen

Originally added in the 1800s as a traditional "summer kitchen," this appealing space reflects the thoughtful design of its time - allowing meals to be prepared without overheating the main cabin during warm months. The kitchen retains its historic character with a large stone chimney and coal stove which served as the home's primary heat source until the 1990s, when modern hot water baseboard heating was installed throughout. Today, the kitchen is both functional and welcoming featuring an electric range, refrigerator, ample wooden cabinetry, and a cozy dining area perfect for casual meals. Large windows frame peaceful views of the garden, CREP area, and a lively array of bird feeders - often visited by songbirds, and occasionally a red-tailed hawk, making every meal here a memorable experience.
